Getting Started

How does Runlock work?

Set your daily step goal, choose which apps to lock, and walk to unlock them. At midnight, your selected apps lock automatically. As you walk throughout the day, your progress updates in real-time. Once you hit your step goal, all locked apps unlock until the next midnight.

What permissions does Runlock need?

Runlock requires two permissions: HealthKit access (to read your step count) and Screen Time / Family Controls authorization (to lock and unlock apps). Both permissions are required for the app to function.

Which apps can I lock?

Any app installed on your device. You select apps through the Screen Time API, which uses privacy-preserving tokens — Runlock never sees the actual app names.

Subscription

Is Runlock free?

Yes! The free tier lets you lock up to 3 apps. Premium unlocks unlimited app locking, emergency unlock, widgets, and detailed statistics.

What does Premium include?

Unlimited app locking, emergency unlock (limited uses per month), home screen widgets, detailed walking statistics and trends, and advanced notifications.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Runlock, and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period.

Troubleshooting

My steps aren't updating

Make sure you've granted HealthKit permissions in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Runlock. Also check that the Health app is tracking your steps correctly. If you use an Apple Watch, ensure it is paired and syncing with your iPhone.

Apps didn't unlock after reaching my goal

Try force-closing and reopening Runlock. Verify your step count in the Apple Health app matches what Runlock shows. If the issue persists, contact us at runlock-contact@lumiostudio.co.

How do I change my step goal?

Open Runlock, go to the Settings tab, and adjust your daily step goal using the slider or preset options.
